Unlike other grief support training programs, UVM’s certificate provides both theoretical knowledge and practical facilitation skill.

Weekly Support Groups

Connect with Others Who Understand

Our peer support groups allow clients to express their feelings and emotions in a supportive setting. We utilize evidence-based techniques to help facilitate these limited time groups. There will be a focus for each 4- or 6-week session. In order to attend these groups, we ask for a commitment to attend all of the sessions in order to build trust with the other grievers on the journey. These sessions may be in-person, hybrid, or virtual.

For upcoming sessions, contact us or check our social media.

Ongoing Grief Drop Ins

Providing Space for Grievers to Just Be

These groups are a more relaxed style, drop-in group open to the public. There will often be a loose "theme" introduced. You can attend as many sessions as you like. These sessions also may be in-person, hybrid, or virtual.

For upcoming drop-ins, contact us or check our social media.

Death Cafes

Where Talking About Death & Dying is Supported

A Death Café is a facilitated, informal gathering where people come together to discuss death and dying in a respectful, open, and non-judgmental environment. The goal is to increase awareness of mortality to help participants make the most of their lives. These events are not counseling sessions or support groups, but rather safe spaces for reflective conversation.

For upcoming death cafes, contact us or check our social media.

Ongoing Support and Resources

Continued Care in the Community

Our commitment to your healing journey extends beyond our own offerings. For our clients, we maintain an extensive list of local referrals and resources, including materials, reading recommendations, and mental health professionals who are focused on grief awareness and healing.

Land Acknowledgment for Multnomah and Washington Counties, Oregon:  Liminal Spaces acknowledges that the land we now call Multnomah and Washington counties in Oregon is part of the traditional homelands of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, whose members include descendants of many tribes who have lived in this region, including the Clackamas, Wasco, Multnomah, Tualatin, Kalapuya, and many others. These lands have always been deeply significant to those communities who have cared for them for many generations.

We honor the presence and knowledge of native peoples past and present. We recognize the painful histories of colonization, forced removal, and broken treaties that have shaped the entirety of the United States of America, and we commit ourselves to ongoing learning, reflection, and respectful partnership with Indigenous communities. As a first step in acknowledging these historical wrongs, Liminal Spaces PDX will donate 2% of all annual profits to the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women, or CSVANW.  This acknowledgment is just one step in a broader commitment to truth and equity. We invite others to join us in supporting Native sovereignty and the voices of the original stewards of this land.
